DeSantos members are active in our community, helping schools and community events with fundraising, and working with those in our community who are less fortunate. Acts of kindness towards the community are a part of the core curriculum.
The non-profit DeSantos Foundation is a way for DeSantos Premier Martial Arts students and families to give back to our communities. This is a monetary fund that supports individuals and families within our communities, both locally and globally, who are socially disadvantaged by providing increased resources to help them reach their highest potential and empower their own lives.
Our main fundraiser for this Foundation is our annual 140+ km walk from Toronto to Niagara Falls. We also hold a 5-km Friendship Walk and our annual team of Black Belt candidates participate in a series of fundraising and community initiatives.
(Date and times for next symposium TBA)
We have become concerned that a portion of our student body are experiencing many troubles outside of our area of expertise. Troubles like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm, alcohol and drug abuse, stress, negative body image, etc. appear to be on the rise in our community. Most times parents are at a loss for how to help their tweens and teens—they don’t know where to get help, or are afraid to reach out to others because of a stigma attached to what their family is going through. We want to help these families to find the help they need for life to get better.
